Source Code

Source code is a story of a soldier who wakes up in another body and finds out that he only has 8 minutes each time to find the bomber and save the passengers on the train and every time he fails he is sent back .This is a very good film because as the film goes on you find out what happened to him and how he is there also it has fast paced and frequent action scenes which are very important in a thriller. Source code was directed by Duncan Jones who also directed Moon, Jones also has another film coming out in 2015 called Warcraft this would be his third feature film. Also Source code was written by Ben Ripley this is one of the only films that Ben Ripley has written. But the name most people know from this film is Jake Gyllenhaal who is a famous actor and has been in many films but some of the other names are Michelle Monaghan who has been in many films such as the bourne supremacy as Kim, and Due Date  and Vera Farmiga.
Source code was on an estimated budget of $32,000,000 which makes Source code make big budget film and on the 3rd of April 2011 the opening weekend of the film it made a total of $14,812,094, by the 10th of July 2011 the film made a total of $54,696,902.

Media Studies-Written Assignment(Camera Angles)

The story we are trying tell is a murderer chasing a student through the school. Most of the scene the student is running away from the murderer but by the end of the scene the murderer creeps up behind the student and kills him by hitting around the head with a rock, which is the murderers signature murder weapon.

We tried to use all of the camera shots/angles that we were given but some of the camera angles were hard to get in, as it didn’t go with scene that we were filming. The camera shots that we didn’t get was a tracking shot and a tilt shot and this were the shots that didn’t fit in with the scene we were doing.

The shot types and camera angles that we used gave the scene a bit of mystery because in each shot you didn’t see the murderers face and we did this as in most thrillers you won’t know who is the murderer is and so we decided that our film you wouldn’t know who the murderer is even though in the beginning you see the murderer kill someone. Also for the murderer we only used point of view, over the shoulder and close up but not at his face, which gave the murderer mystery and for the student we mostly used camera shots of the student running and hiding from the murderer which shows that the victim is scared and fighting for his life. I think most of our choices were successful but I think we could have improved by making the scene flow better
We didn’t always have steady camera shots but it was our first time filming so I think we did ok and you can see a bit of an improvement in our camera work nearer the end of the scene. I think we did use each shot appropriately as most of the shots were in frame and the camera shots/angles of the murderer was supposed to be like that. But at the beginning there was supposed to be 2 people running but we only got 1 person.
I think that our film was good for our first attempt of filming as we got good camera shots and angles and as the video progresses you can see the improvement in our use in the equipment. We mainly need to make the scene flow smoother instead of jumping from scene to scene and have a better story line.
